FIFA 21: What is Dual Entitlement? We explain it

FIFA 21 will be released in early October 2020, much earlier than the new consoles from Sony and Microsoft. With the term Dual Entitlement, EA Sports clarifies whether players will have to buy the title twice.

Antitlement to both versions: Dual Entitlement means a free upgrade.

German users will find the translation "Beide-Versionen-Anspruch" at EA Sports. This sounds quite unwieldy, but clearly indicates what it's all about.

FIFA 21: Dual Entitlement is consumer-friendly

An important point for many game releases in 2020 is namely the announcement of the two next-gen consoles from Sony and Microsoft. These will not be released until the fall, and that raises the question among gamers whether they will have to buy their games multiple times if they have already previously purchased them for Xbox One and PlayStation 4, respectively.
  • In the case of FIFA 21, this is where the Dual Entitlement comes into play.
  • The "both versions claim" means namely: If you buy FIFA 21 first for Xbox One or PlayStation 4 and later buy an Xbox Series X or PlayStation 5, you can upgrade FIFA free of charge for the new console.
  • So you do not have to buy the next-gen version of the game in addition.
  • Practical: Your score will also be transferred - so you do not start from scratch on the new console. All info about this can be found on this FAQ page from EA.
Thanks to this smooth transition, FIFA fans need not worry about either finances or their game progress. Presumably, this system will take hold in many other games as well; for example, it is confirmed for Cyberpunk 2077 under the term "Smart Delivery", as explained in more detail here.
