Confluence: Create table of contents
Confluence is a software developed by the Atlassian company, primarily used as an enterprise wiki. By creating a table of contents on Confluence, users can get a page overview and navigate to the post. You can learn how to create a table of contents on Confluence here.
How to go about creating a Confluence table of contents
For a clear table of contents, text formatting with headings 1 through 6 is necessary. These are basically similar to the headings H1 to H6 in HTML format.- Inserting the table of contents: after formatting all headings, add the table of contents in the editor by clicking on the "plus symbol" in the navigation bar. Now select "Contents", whereupon the configuration window opens.
- Configuration: In this section you make all the necessary settings, which you can keep an eye on via the "Preview" button. Once all configurations are completed, click "Insert".
Important configurations when creating a Confluence table of contents
As with the creation of a Confluence Anchor, you also have different configuration options for the table of contents:- Output type: Used to specify the bullet display.
- Section numbering: Check here to perform the numbering of the headings.
- Separator: Here you can set the symbol to separate entries.
- Overline indent: With this function you set the indent of the respective list items.
