Scrivener: This is Scapple - we introduce the program

In addition to the main program, Scrivener offers Scapple, a special tool. Our guide explains what it's suitable for, what features are available, and what the program costs.

Alone or complementary: Scapple basically works without Scrivener.

Some thoughts and ideas need a visualization, so that connections become visible and the author does not lose the overview. Scapple was developed for this purpose.

Scapple: The perfect complement to Scrivener - for some users

The features and capabilities of Scapple read as follows:
  • Scapple is a kind of mindboard that allows you to capture spontaneous thoughts and link elements together.
  • In contrast to Scrivener, Scapple is not about writing continuous text, but about visualizing storylines and other content of your projects.
  • You can access many options, such as notes, backgrounds to highlight individual areas and flexible moving of content.
  • Scapple costs 19 euros once. Students and academic employees can buy the Educational License for 15.20 euros.
  • Scapple runs completely independently of Scrivener.
Just like Scrivener, Scapple is available for Windows (from Win 7 SP1) and macOS (from version 10.11). Important: The licenses are considered separately, so the purchase is always for the selected platform. More examples as well as all official info can be found on this page.
