iOS 11: Turn off the WLAN completely - this is how it works

The procedure to turn off the WLAN completely has changed since the update to iOS 11. Thus, the deactivation of the WLAN function is no longer possible via the control center, but must be done in another way. Which methods there are to turn off the WLAN, we show you here.

How to completely turn off the WLAN on iOS 11

In contrast to devices with older iOS versions, it is no longer possible to turn off the WLAN via the control center on iOS 11. If you tap on the WLAN icon in the control center, only the current WLAN connection is disconnected, but the function remains active. If you want to completely turn off the Wi-Fi on your iOS 11 device, the quickest way is to use Siri. Simply give the voice assistant the command "Deactivate WLAN" and Siri will make the corresponding change in the settings.

Alternatively to using Siri, deactivating the WALN function is also possible by switching on flight mode. To do this, tap the "Airplane icon" in the Control Center to turn off the WLAN connection. Please note that in flight mode, all other wireless connections will also be turned off and you will not be able to make phone calls or write SMS.

1. To turn off only the WLAN connection, please first tap the "gear icon" to enter the settings of your iOS 11 device.
2. In the settings, then navigate to the "WLAN" section and move the switch located there to the left to disable the WLAN function.
3. If you want to re-enable the WLAN later, tap the slider again under "Settings" > "WLAN" so that it is highlighted in green.
