iPhone X Touch ID doesn't work: This may be the reason
Touch ID allows you to unlock your iPhone X using your fingerprint. While this technology now works very well, it is prone to failure. The humidity, temperature, position of the finger and other external circumstances affect how well the fingerprint can be scanned. Occasional failures are therefore normal.
What to do if the iPhone X can not be unlocked with Touch ID?
If your fingerprint is not recognized when unlocking via Touch ID, this is usually only a short-term problem. Many circumstances come into question as the cause. You should always have the PIN for unlocking in mind in case the fingerprint sensor does not work. These causes are possible
- "Missing updates": There may be a system update. Download and install the update.
- Contaminations: Carefully clean the home button with a soft cloth and make sure your fingers are dry.
- Wrong positioning: Your finger should be straight on the home button, covering it completely. Leave your finger still and wait.
- Add new finger: Open the settings and select "Touch ID & Code" and then "Unlock iPhone". Under "Add fingerprint", you can add a new fingerprint. For example, test the finger of the other hand.
- Foil or cover over the home button: protective films must not cover the home button. A protective cover with a very thick edge can ensure that your finger does not rest properly.
- Unfavorable weather: In extreme cold or very high humidity, the Touch ID may fail. Unlock the device with the code until the weather changes.
