Google Home - how to use the device as a speaker

Google Home can be used not only to control your smart home, but also as a speaker to play music. We'll show you how to set up the Google Home before using it for the first time and how to pair other speakers here.

How to set up Google Home as a speaker

To use Google Home to listen to music, you need the appropriate Google Home app and connect the device to your smartphone. For this to work, turn on the Google Home and enable Bluetooth in your smartphone's settings.

1. To start pairing the Google Home and smartphone, first download and open the Google Home app on your mobile device.
2. In the app, then click "Devices" in the top right corner and select your Google Home from the list of available devices.
3. Then switch to the device card menu, navigate to "Paired Bluetooth devices" and tap on "Activate pairing mode".
4. As soon as you start the music playback on the smartphone, this is done via the paired Google Home speaker.

Pairing the Google Home with a second speaker

If you want to pair the Google Home with another speaker, this is also possible via the app. To do this, first put the speaker you want to pair into pairing mode by pressing its Bluetooth button. Then start the app on your smartphone, go to the "Devices" section and tap the "three-dot menu" next to the Google Home speaker. Open the settings there, navigate to "Default speaker for music" > "Bluetooth speaker" and wait until the connection is established.
