E3 2019: event date and outlook

E3 remains one of the most important trade shows in the video game industry worldwide. Our guide tells you everything you need to know about the event's date, location and potential highlights.

All the industry giants will be at E3 2019 - with one exception this year.

As the world's largest gaming trade show, E3 is the fitting venue for major announcements. Consequently, it is natural for the industry leaders to be represented there.

E3 2019: Date as always in the spring

Here are the framework data and further information on the Electronic Entertainment Expo 2019:

• The E3 will take place from June 11 to 14, 2019.
• The location is traditionally Los Angeles.
• In terms of exhibitors, there is a major innovation: for the first time, Sony will not participate in the E3.
• Besides that, all the well-known names are represented, starting with industry giants like Microsoft and EA to smaller but hot developer studios like CD Projekt Red.
• The latter could be in the spotlight, as press and fans are waiting for news on the potential mega-hit Cyberpunk 2077.
• A total of around 200 exhibitors are on site, and up to 70,000 visitors are expected.

As always, the event will include press conferences as well as showcases and gaming shows. The focus at E3 is more on the trade press, as the event period (exclusively weekdays) underlines. For German gaming fans, Gamescom in Cologne thus remains the more suitable option, not only because of the distance, but also in terms of content.
