Watch Dogs Legion: Ironman and Permadeath explained

Enthusiastic gamers like to look for a real challenge. This is available in the new Watch Dogs Legion in the form of the Permadeath and Ironman options. We explain what they are all about.

With thought: Ironman and Permadeath bring a whole new intensity to the game.

Thanks to different difficulty levels, every player will find their own pace in Watch Dogs Legion. With Permadeath and Ironman, options are available for an extreme experience.

Watch Dogs Legion: What Permadeath and Ironman mean

Permadeath and Ironman change the gaming experience quite significantly:
  • Permadeath means "permanent death". It means that if your characters die, the game (with that score) is over. It is therefore a kind of hardcore mode, as it occurs in other games.
  • The Ironman option is directly related to this. If you play Permadeath without Ironman, you can turn off the Permadeath option at any time. However, it is then no longer possible to activate it again in the same game state.
  • With active Ironman option, on the other hand, it is not even possible to turn off Permadeath. You thus make a serious decision that can not be undone.
Through Permadeath - whether with or without Ironman - the game experience should be more exciting and deliberate, since even a small mishap can end the game state. A hardcore mode of this kind naturally appeals to only a fairly small portion of all players; for them, however, the appeal of it is all the greater.
