Excel: Concatenate - how to use the function
In the Excel spreadsheet program, you can edit and analyze the data in your tables as you wish. If you have two or more different strings, you don't have to manually concatenate them. With the "Concatenate" function, the program will do the job for you.
How to use the "Concatenate" function in Excel
Excel offers you many different functions that allow you to edit the contents in your tables. However, the "concatenate" function has been replaced by the "TEXT CHAIN" function since Excel 2016. Even though you can still use the "Concatenate" function at the moment for backward compatibility reasons, it is a good idea to fall back on "TEXT CHAIN" already now. In later Excel versions, the text chain function may no longer be included.- The "TEXT CHAIN" must contain at least one argument. However, you can pass up to a maximum of 253 text arguments.
- To use the function, you just need to enter the command "=Concat("computer"; "image";....)" in an empty cell. The quotes at the beginning and end can be omitted. The example would result in the string "computerimage" without quotes. If you want spaces between the words, you can do this with the function "=Concat("computer"; " "; "image"). This command would result in the string "computer picture". Note that the string must not contain more than 32,767 characters, otherwise "#VALUE!" will be output.
- The "concatenate" function worked the same way and should be used the same way, so these two functions can be interchanged without any problems.
