Excel: Transpose - with this function it is possible
Tables can be edited in Excel and displayed as desired. If you want to swap rows and columns of a table, the spreadsheet program offers you the appropriate functions. So you can rearrange your data again and again, depending on how you need it.
How to transpose your spreadsheets in Excel
If you have a worksheet in Excel with data that is inside a column, then you don't have to arrange them manually if you prefer them to be in a row. Also for this case Excel offers you a suitable function, with which you transpose your data in a few steps.- With the transpose function you can swap whole tables. Thus, rows and columns are swapped and a new arrangement of the data is possible.
- To do this, first select all cells that you want to swap. Note that the row and column labels must also be marked so that they subsequently fit the correct data.
- Then select an area in which the transposed table should be inserted. The formats used will also be transferred completely when transposing.
- Now click on the upper left cell of the place where you want to insert the transposed table. Click the right mouse button to open a menu.
- Here you can now select "Transpose". This is an icon that consists of a clipboard. Here, a double-sided arrow is displayed, which is between two blocks. This symbolizes the change between horizontal and vertical.
