Books on Demand: When are royalties paid?

Writers who sell their works through Books on Demand receive payment in the form of royalties. Our guide explains how the payout is regulated and what conditions apply.

Every three months: Your BoD sales are billed by quarter.

Both paperbacks and eBooks can be sold at BoD with quite little effort. Therefore, the payout mechanism is all the more interesting.

Books on Demand: How to get your royalties

The payout at Books on Demand proceeds as follows:
  • Your royalties are summarized per quarter.
  • The payout is then made by the thirtieth day of the following month. This means, for example, that your royalties from the first quarter will be paid by April 30.
  • However, there is a minimum amount, namely 25 euros. Your royalties are pooled over the quarters until this amount is exceeded. Only then is a payment made after the past quarter.
Read this in the contract that you receive for each published work and can be found in your account. There you can also look up more info, such as the agreed royalty rate.
