HDMI to USB: What you need to know

With HDMI you can transfer sound and image from a terminal to a screen, TV or projector. If your computer or mobile device does not have an HDMI output, you can also connect the devices via USB. To do this, you need a suitable adapter.

With an HDMI connection, you can transfer image and sound to an external screen. To do this, both the screen and the terminal device need an HDMI connection. If your computer does not have an HDMI output, you can still use the functionality of HDMI with an HDMI to USB adapter. You can already get a suitable adapter for under 10 euros. You can also buy adapters for smartphones and thus connect your phone directly to a screen. Suitable adapters are available with a mini-USB port or with the new USB Type-C port. Check the technical details of your smartphone beforehand to see whether the device supports screen transmission. Since the transmission of image and sound is very energy-intensive, you should choose an adapter that allows you to charge the smartphone or tablet at the same time.

How to use the adapter

1. Plug the USB port of the adapter into your computer, laptop or mobile device.
