WhatsApp messages don't arrive - this helps

In WhatsApp, the appearance of two check marks next to a sent WhatsApp message tells you that it has arrived at the recipient. If, on the other hand, your WhatsApp messages do not arrive, this can have several reasons. But where does the problem actually lie?

Possible causes when WhatsApp messages do not arrive

If you send messages to your contacts in WhatsApp, a double tick indicates that the message has been delivered. If instead you see only a check mark next to the message, it means that the message was sent but not delivered to the recipient.
  1. Often the cause of undelivered messages is the Internet connection. Therefore, try to fix the problem by disabling the WLAN connection and then re-enable.
  2. If your smartphone can not connect to the Internet via WLAN, activate the mobile data connection instead.
  3. Sometimes an error in the cache of the smartphone can also be the reason for problems with WhatsApp. If this is the case with you, a restart of the device helps.
  4. In addition, messages are not delivered if the recipient has blocked you as a WhatsApp contact.

WhatsApp messages do not arrive: Enable background data

Another cause of problems sending and receiving WhatsApp messages is the use of background data. If you have disabled them for WhatsApp, new messages will not be loaded when the app is running in the background, but only when you open it again. To change this, please navigate to "Settings" > "Apps" > "WhatsApp" > "Mobile data connection" on Android and tap on "Allow background data usage". If you use an iPhone, the use of background activation can be activated under "Settings" > "WhatsApp".
