If you would like to use Telegram on your Linux PC as well, you can do so not only in the browser, but also by installing the Telegram desktop client. To install Telegram on the desktop of your Linux PC, please visit the website "telegram.org/apps" and download the client by clicking on "Get Telegram for Linux".
  1. Afterwards, unzip the downloaded file by right-clicking on it and selecting "Unzip here".
  2. Open the Telegram folder after unzipping and start the installation by double-clicking on the executing Telegram file.
  3. Now still select a language, enter your phone number and complete the installation and setup by entering the code that was sent to your smartphone.

Linux: How to install Telegram via the terminal

Another way to install Telegram on Linux is to use the terminal. To do this, first download the unofficial Telegram client for the terminal by entering the command "git clone --recursive https://github.com/vysheng/tg.git && cd tg" from the website Github.com. Then install some dependencies that the program needs with the command "sudo apt-get install libreadline-dev libconfig-dev libssl-dev lua5.2 liblua5.2-dev libevent-dev libjansson-dev libpython-dev make" and finish the installation with "./configure make".
