Steam won't start - that could be the problem
Nothing can disrupt a pleasant evening of gaming more than when Steam doesn't work properly. But fortunately, there are a few tricks you can use to get on top of the problem. For example, delete the registry file.
What to do if Steam does not start?
Once Steam goes haywire, there are several possible solutions.- Delete the ClienRegistry.blob: This file is located in the Steam installation directory. First, close Steam completely by right-clicking the small Steam icon at the bottom of the tablet bar, then go to "Exit Steam". Now go to the installation folder of Steam and delete the "ClientRegistry.blob". After that, start Steam again.
- Force reload the program data: Exit Steam as in step 1 and go to the installation directory. Here, however, delete all data this time, except for the Steam.exe and the folder "steamapps". Start Steam again.
- Reset the Steam client: Exit Steam as described in step 1. Now press the key combination Windows key + R to open the Run window. Enter the command "steam://flushconfig" and confirm the process with "OK". Confirm that you want to reset your local Steam settings and restart your PC once the process is complete. Once the PC has restarted, you can open Steam again.
