Windows 10 won't start: here's how to fix the operating system

If your laptop or PC is experiencing problems so that Windows 10 won't start, try to fix it by repairing the operating system. This is possible via the computer's advanced options, which you can access again by restarting the computer and pressing the key combination of "Shift" and "F8" in the meantime. A blue window will appear on the screen and you should navigate to "Troubleshooting" and "Advanced Options". There, click on "Startup Help" and wait while Windows checks for errors, fixes them and restarts the computer.

More tips if Windows 10 does not start

If you could not solve the problem by the automatic repair, start Windows 10 in Safe Mode instead. To do this, open the advanced options of the device again and click the "Safe Mode" option under "Startup Settings" > "Restart".
  1. If you were able to start Windows 10 by selecting Safe Mode, next try to find the cause of the startup problem.
  2. Often updates and drivers are responsible for the problem. To check this, look for recent updates or newly installed drivers and uninstall them if necessary.
  3. If you still can not start Windows normally despite uninstalling updates and drivers, the last option is to repair Windows 10 using the appropriate ISO file from a USB stick.
