When is the fourth version of Age of Empires coming?

Age of Empires is a strategy game from 1997, and the last sequel was released in 2005. The game still enjoys great popularity and is still played by numerous gamers. Nevertheless, many gamers were surprised when Ensemble Studios announced in 2017 that it would not only release a full fourth version, but also continue developing Age of Empires 2 and 3. However, it is still unclear when gamers will be able to try out the new versions.

So far, there is no concrete release date for the fourth part of the Age of Empires series. According to rumors, however, the game will be released during 2021. This other information about the game is known so far:

2. The game will definitely not be set in the future or on another planet.
3. It is likely that the developers will set the game in the period between 1890 and World War II.
4. Possibly there will be a version for the Xbox One. The developers have not yet made a definitive statement on this point.
