Asus Zenfone 6: Navigation - how to use gestures

The Android 9 Pie operating system is installed on the Asus Zenfone 6. This allows you to navigate through the smartphone using gestures, if desired. Thanks to gesture control, you no longer tap but swipe to perform certain functions.

How to enable gesture control on the Asus Zenfone 6

If you want to control your Asus Zenfone 6 via the virtual home button and use gestures, you first need to enable the new feature. To do so, go to the device's settings and tap "System" > "Gestures" > "Swipe up on home button". Now move the slider to blue so that the gesture control is activated. There is now a virtual home button on your home screen, which you can operate via various gestures.

Asus Zenfone 6: How the new system navigation works

  1. Tapping the virtual button at the bottom of the screen once always returns you to the home screen. A long press launches Google Assistant, as in other Android versions.
  2. To switch between two apps, swipe to the right on the virtual home button. However, this control only works when you are already in an app, but not via the home screen.
  3. If you want to see an overview of all the apps you have installed on the Zenfone, swipe up from the bottom with a long gesture. You have to perform the swipe gesture over the button as with any gesture.
  4. Despite new controls, Google has kept the back button. However, it is not always visible, but only appears when you can use it - so in apps or in settings, but not on the home screen.
