Reassigning the Bixby button: How it works

Samsung's voice assistant Bixby was introduced with the Galaxy S8 along with its own hardware button. However, many users did not really warm up to the feature. In the meantime, it is possible to reassign the button.

Finally useful: The Bixby button can now be reassigned.

The fact that the Bixby button can now be freely assigned can be understood as an admission by Samsung. This is good for users, as it gives them a new button.

How to remap the Bixby button

To remap the Bixby button:

1. Open Bixby by pressing the button.
2. Tap the menu icon in the upper right corner and then tap "Settings".
3. Select "Bixby Button".
4. Decide first whether Bixby should be opened with one or with two button presses. The remaining option can namely be freely used for another action or app.
5. To do this, activate the slider in the sub-item. Now you can assign a new function or app to the Bixby button.

For users who do not use Bixby, the hardware button thus becomes a useful shortcut, whereas previously it was almost considered wasted material on the Galaxy S8 and its successors.
