New World: What's the release status?

New World is the most important and high-profile project so far in Amazon's efforts to become a big player in gaming as well. In light of its progress, we show how the release is currently doing.

Amazon's first MMO: New World caused a stir with a bumpy development process.

Although not even released yet, New World has already made headlines several times - and mostly not in a positive sense. Because the postponement by almost a year (originally, the game was to be released in August 2020) had good reasons.

New World: Release probably in May 2021

So New World was subjected to numerous major changes in an already advanced state. These were a consequence of the first impressions from an alpha test, which showed that the game was not going in the direction hoped for.

• So all PVP elements were removed, the focus is now solely on the PVE experience.
• Also the quest system was very late fundamentally revised.
• Stand now (early February 2021), the release is likely to take place on May 25, 2021.

This date is namely indicated on the Amazon product page of the game and is thus considered quite meaningful. However, there is no certainty until then, as unforeseen problems have already occurred more often in the history of New World.
