If you frequently work on your computer and store files there, it can be helpful to have multiple desktops. These allow you to have additional empty space available to better sort your applications. Usually, it is possible to switch between desktops using a keyboard shortcut.

How to get multiple desktops in Windows 10

If you don't have enough space on your desktop or you want to separate different applications from each other, then it can help to set up virtual desktops on your system. The desktops can be managed independently of each other. This gives you a completely empty space on which you can distribute windows and applications as you wish. In Windows 10, multiple desktops can be created in a few steps.
  1. To create a virtual desktop, open Task View. The appropriate icon is located at the bottom of the desktop. Alternatively, press the key combination "Windows" key + "Tab".
  2. In the bottom right corner, there is now a button with a + sign and the name "New Desktop". Click on it. Here you can also alternatively use a key combination, press for this simultaneously "Windows" key + "Ctrl" + "D".
