Firefox: Use multiple profiles at the same time

When you use the Firefox browser, all your bookmarks, passwords and browsing history are stored in your profile. It is possible to use several profiles at the same time and make changes to them. Read how to switch between your profiles using the profile management.

To create new Firefox profiles, make changes to them or switch between existing profiles, it is necessary to use the profile management. This can be accessed both when Firefox is open by typing "about:profiles" in the address bar, and when the browser is closed. However, some settings are only available if Firefox has been closed before.
  1. To close Firefox completely, please go to the menu and click on the "Exit icon" there.
  2. Then press the key combination of "Windows key" + "R" to open the Run dialog and enter the following command: "firefox.exe -P".
  3. Once you have confirmed your entry with "OK", a new window opens with the Firefox profile management.

How to use multiple profiles in Firefox at the same time

Once you have opened the profile management, all existing Firefox accounts are displayed there. If you have only one Firefox account so far, you can create a new profile by selecting "Create profile" and then use it. To start Firefox now with another profile, select it by clicking the corresponding entry with the left mouse button and clicking "Start Firefox". If you would like to surf with a second profile in parallel instead, click on "Run profile additionally" to open it in a new tab.
