iPad childproofing - how to make the setting

It is important that children get used to technical devices at an early age. An iPad is a good choice for this. However, there are ways you can limit what your child can do on the iPad. For example, you can limit their use to just one app.

What to do to childproof your iPad?

The iPad offers several settings that you can use to childproof the device. Note that you need a parent code for special functions. You can create this via your smartphone in the settings under "Use screen time code". To childproof your iPad, you should first set up a code. To do this, navigate to "Settings" > "Touch ID & Code" and click on "Activate code" there. Then enter a code and repeat it. Note that for the lock code need a different sequence of numbers than for the screen time code.
  1. Open the Settings app on the iPad and select the item "Screen time". Now you can make the desired changes under "Restrictions".
  2. In the "Restrictions" menu, you can allow or prohibit apps in addition to the screen time. For this, just click on "allowed apps".
  3. Here it is also possible to select the item "content restrictions". Under "web content" you can filter results of search queries to have more control over what your child finds on the Internet.
  4. To make the iPad as safe as possible, it makes sense to also install a corresponding app. This usually consists of two applications. So you can monitor your child's tablet from your smartphone.
