Sky: Premier League back in the program - all info

Good news for all Sky users with a passion for international soccer: The pay channel is bringing the English Premier League back to German screens. We have all the info.

The Premier League is returning to German Sky subscribers.

Increasing competition made for difficult years at Sky. With the Premier League, the pay-TV broadcaster has now succeeded in striking an important counterblow.

Sky: Premier League for German customers

After years of abstinence, the Sky Group has succeeded in securing the rights for the Premier League again. The number of games broadcast depends on the country:
  • German Sky customers can look forward to 232 live broadcasts - that's more than ever before.
  • Another 148 games can be viewed time-delayed.
  • By comparison, for Sky subscribers in the UK, it's about 100 live games less.
  • The programming: For most games, the pre-report begins ten minutes before kickoff, after the final whistle, there is also a ten-minute wrap-up.
  • In the game of the week (usually on Sundays), there are 30 minutes of advance.
  • Sky owns the rights up to and including the 2020/21 season, so two full seasons.
With the license, Sky has outdone the competition from DAZN. The start-up had secured the rights to top English soccer in 2016; this was an important growth factor for the streaming service. Now Sky customers are back in the game and the popularity of the Premier League, which is already high thanks to Jürgen Klopp's success story at Liverpool FC, should increase further as a result.
