Professional soccer continues to thrive globally and as a result, UEFA is creating a third European club competition starting next season. Our guide introduces the Conference League.

The Conference League has been a done deal since 2018 and will, in a sense, represent "Europe's 3rd league."

This is the UEFA Conference League

Because the Conference League is located below the Champions League and the Europa League. In it will consequently play teams that directly follow the national starting places for the higher competitions.

• The introduction of the Conference League, which includes 32 teams, will reduce the Europa League from 48 to 32 teams.
• As the Champions League will continue to compete with 32 teams, consequently, all three competitions have the same number of starters.
• This is at the same time to upgrade the Europa League, as it will be more exclusive due to the smaller field of participants.
• The mode is, as usual, a mix of group and knockoutPhases.
• The winner of the Conference League is qualified in the following season for the Europa League, if this does not succeed via the ligainternen final place.

The Conference League starts in the summer of 2021, so at the beginning of the new season.
