iPhone: Show WLAN password

It may happen that you want to tell someone a known WLAN password and open it on your iPhone. However, since iOS 11, it is no longer possible to view the password directly on the iPhone. But you can share it.

How to see the WLAN password on your iPhone

Sharing WLAN passwords is only possible with another iPhone, but not with Android. Both devices must have at least iOS version 11, Bluetooth must be enabled, and both people must have each other's contacts.On the iPhone that wants to connect to the WLAN, open Settings by tapping the app with the gray gear icon.

1. Now go on to "WLAN" and tap the WLAN in the list that you want the iPhone to connect to.
2. Make sure the other iPhone is nearby. After a short time, a request should appear on the iPhone that knows the password. Now tap on "Share password".
3. The password is now shared via Bluetooth with the other device and this can then connect to the WLAN. Close the notification again by tapping on "Done".
4. You can only look up the password directly with a Mac. There you can find the password in the keychain management.

iPhone: Show WLAN password via MacIf you want to share the WLAN password with someone who does not have an Apple device, this is only possible via the keychain management on the Mac. To do this, enter the name of your WLAN in the keychain management, double-click on the result and click on the box in front of "Show password".
