MacBook: Create a screenshot - how to capture the desktop

If you want to capture the current screen content of your MacBook, it is a good idea to create a screenshot. This is saved as an image file on your PC and can be accessed at any time. You can also send the screenshot.

This is how you take a screenshot with your MacBook

To take a screenshot with your MacBook, you can use various key combinations:
  1. If you want to take a screenshot of the entire screen, you need to press the combination of "Shift" + "cmd" + "3". The screenshots will then be automatically deposited in the "Screenshots" folder.
  2. If you want to capture only a window or a part of the screen, you must first press the combination of "Shift" + "cmd" + "4" and the space bar at the same time. Use the cursor icon that appears to select the screen part. As soon as you click, a screenshot is created.
  3. If you want to capture only a section, you must first press the combination of "Shift" + "cmd" + "4". Hold down the mouse button and use the crosshair cursor that appears to select the area you want to capture. As soon as you release the mouse button, the screenshot will be created automatically.
  4. Your MacBook will capture each of your screenshots according to the following scheme "Screenshot (date) at (time).png"

Where are the screenshots stored?

On every MacBook, various folders are automatically stored. This includes the folder "Screenshots". All files are stored there, regardless of how you made the screenshot.
