In this case, the synchronization between WhatsApp and the phonebook app usually takes place automatically. If you still do not see new contacts or changes in WhatsApp, you can also update the contact data manually.
  1. If you are using an Android smartphone, first open WhatsApp and tap on the "letter icon" on the chat overview page.
  2. The page with the contact list will then open, where you can tap on the three dots in the top right corner to open the context menu.
  3. In the menu, then select the option "Update" and wait until it is completed.

WhatsApp: Update the contact list on the iPhone

If you have an iPhone, the manual update of contacts is not possible directly in the app of WhatsApp. Instead, a detour via the phone book app of the iPhone is necessary. Therefore, first open the phonebook app on your device and search for the contacts that are not displayed to you in WhatsApp. Then press and hold the respective contact until the menu opens and tap on the "WhatsApp" entry to start a new chat with the contact.
