Between photos, apps and various documents it's easy to fill up all the memory of our iPhone in no time, so here are the tricks to free up space with iOS 12
Of course, the days when you bought an iPhone with 16 gigabytes of memory and had to struggle to survive are just a thing of the past. But even now, despite the fact that the memory sizes of Apple phones have quadrupled, the memory space always seems to be too little. Already after a few months of use you start to have problems with insufficient memory and know how to free space on the iPhone with iOS 12 becomes a matter of primary importance.
Nowadays between applications, photos and various documents exchanged with other users our iPhone takes very little time to finish all the storage space. Especially if we bought a model with 64GB of memory or less. Manage the internal memory of an iPhone or iPad is therefore essential not to go to meet bugs or slowdown of the applefonino. Luckily, iOS 12 introduces a number of features and tools that will help you make room in your iPhone's storage in a matter of seconds.
Momentarily delete unused apps
One of the main causes of clogged memory on an iPhone is unused apps. Starting with iOS 11, Apple has included a special feature that automatically deletes the app from our smartphone after 30 days in case it is never used. The data generated by our use of the app is saved, so that we have it in case we need the app again after a long time, but the various system files and folders that it has are deleted. To activate this feature we open Settings > iTunes Store and App Store and move from left to right the switch at Remove apps you don't use. If, on the other hand, we want to manually disable the apps we don't use we have to go to Settings, go to Free iPhone Space and click on the name of the app we don't use. At this point, all you have to do is click on Uninstall app and follow the procedure.
Watch out for photos and videos
Taking countless high-resolution photos and recording a flood of quality videos is one of the best ways to saturate our iPhone's memory in a few days. That's why it would be important to store multimedia content periodically on an external cloud service, like iCloud or Google Photos for example. Or save all images and movies on an external hard drive. In this way, besides saving storage space we will also secure our photos from hackers or storage damage.
Set a time limit on iMessage
Do we often use Messages to exchange photos, texts, GIFs and movies with our friends? Well, Apple's messaging service is very complete and intuitive, but the problem is that after a short time all the files and texts shared on iMessage start to take a toll on the memory of our iPhone. What to do? Simple, with iOS 12 we can set a time limit after which the old messages and old multimedia content exchanged on Messages are automatically deleted from our iPhone or iPad. To change the time limit on the messaging app we go to Settings, then Messages and finally tap on the Keep Messages item. We can choose between Always, one year or 30 days. We choose the solution that best suits our needs and save.
Use Lite apps and delete pre-installed ones
Let's get back to talking about apps, because basically they are the main cause of our memory crisis on iPhone. If we have a device with low storage capacity, our advice is to install Lite versions of the main applications we use every day. For example, Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and even Messenger all have their own Lite versions. These are special versions with a minimal graphic interface and a few less features, but they weigh much less than the originals. Finally, let's remove all of Apple's pre-installed applications from the iPhone. How? Simple, click on their icon and simply delete them. Be careful, however, on iOS 12 it is advisable not to delete FaceTime, because of some functions the elimination of this app would lead to bugs and incompatibility.
