The user, thanks to the safe mode, is more likely to detect and eliminate the virus. Let's see why and what to do to get rid of the threat
Nowadays more than ever you need to know what to do if your computer is attacked by one of the many malware that infest the network. On Windows, whatever version you have installed, the most effective way to try and get rid of viruses is to start the device in Safe Mode.
There are a number of reasons why this is the case. Let's start by briefly explaining the function of Safe Mode. It is an option that allows Microsoft's operating system to start only basic files and drivers, while other programs are excluded from the reboot. Safe mode is a very effective tool to solve some Windows problems. An example will help clarify its usefulness in virus removal. Let's say the malware that infected your PC comes into operation as soon as you restart Windows, blocking the antivirus. With Safe Mode, the malicious software is not loaded by the operating system.
Launching Safe Mode
The user, thanks to Safe Mode, is more likely to succeed against the malware. To launch Safe Mode on Windows 10, there are several methods. Let's consider the one that allows you to launch the option from the login screen.
Reboot your PC and immediately press the power button and the caps key together and for a few seconds. Windows will restart your computer.
Next, from "Choose an option" click on "Troubleshooting" and then on: "Advanced Options", "Startup Settings" and finally "Restart". The PC will restart and will show a window with some entries.
Since you will need to download a new antivirus or use an online scanner it is better to press the 5 button, which allows you to start Safe Mode with the Internet.
Now let's try to remove the virus from the computer. To speed up the process of antivirus analysis, it is advisable to free up some space from the hard disk by deleting all unnecessary files. To do this, simply launch the Disk Cleanup tool and go ahead. At this point we are ready to try and eliminate the infection.
The antivirus installed on your PC will be of little use. One because it was unable to block the virus. Two, because in Safe Mode the protection program is not started by Windows.
So it is necessary to download a new one from the net. Alternatively, you can also use one of the many online scanners available on the Internet, which do not require any installation on your computer.
Now all you have to do is launch the chosen tool and hope that it will be able to detect and eliminate the cyber threat. Once the malware is removed, finally restart the computer.
