Call of Duty: What is ADS? Our guide explains it

In shooters like Call of Duty there are many technical terms, some of which seem quite technical. Particularly often, there is talk of ADS. Our guide explains what it means and how it's implemented in the new Black Ops Cold War.

Lock on, aim, pull the trigger: ADS gives you the highest precision.

Good aiming depends not only on skill, but also on game mechanics. In Call of Duty, ADS is a well-known term.

Call of Duty: ADS explained simply

ADS stands for "Aim Down Sight." This is done regularly by holding down the right mouse button.
  • Then, namely, you place the weapon properly instead of firing from the hip. It is consequently the target view.
  • You use so to speak rear sight, or even a telescopic sight. This increases the precision enormously.
  • One of the disadvantages is that you can not observe the rest of the action so well in this posture, because your field of vision is focused on the target area.
  • This mechanic is identical in a large part of all shooters and is not an invention of Call of Duty.
  • In the new Black Ops Cold War, however, you can reload during the ADS posture. This is enormously practical.
The so-called "ADS Reload" was already introduced in Call of Duty in Modern Warfare (2019). Experienced players of the series may thus tie with Cold war exactly there.
