Windows 10: Create a boot stick - here's how to do it
To reboot your system, you need a bootable medium. This can be a CD, DVD or a USB stick. In Windows 10, you can also reset the operating system to the original settings without a data medium. If you still need a stick, create it in a few steps.
How to create a boot stick for Windows 10
If you want to reinstall your Windows 10 operating system, you have the option to use the Media Creation Tool (MCT) provided by Microsoft. With this, you can create an ISO image or a boot stick in just a few steps. It doesn't matter which USB stick you use, it only requires between 4 and 8 GB of storage space. Note that all data on the stick will be deleted during the process.- Go to the download page for the tool in your browser.
- Click the "Download tool now" button here. If you are using an operating system other than Windows, then you will only be offered the ISO images for download. However, the tool only works under Windows.
- Once the download is complete, start the program.
- Select "Create installation medium" here.
