Firefox: Create Theme - how it works

If you want to customize your browser, simply create your own theme for Firefox. This way you can have a self-selected graphic displayed in the header bar as well as the footer bar in the browser. In the meantime, there are also various tools that help you with the creation.

Prerequisites for creating your own Firefox theme

Firefox already offers ready-made themes that allow you to customize the browser's design. You can find them on the Firefox add-ons page in the "Themes" tab. If you surf a lot and the predefined themes are too boring for you, personalize the browser with your own theme. For example, insert your favorite picture or a graphic you created yourself instead of the color. For this to succeed, the images you want to use as a theme must fit pixel-perfectly in these areas.
  • The header bar requires a graphic with a width of 3,000 pixels and a height of 200 pixels. The file format can be either JPG or PNG. The file must also be a maximum of 300 KB in size.
  • Even if you do not see a footer bar even in Firefox, you must also upload an image file as JPG or PNG for this area. The image can be a maximum of 300 KB in size and the dimensions must be 3,000 pixels in width and 100 pixels in height.
Once you have created suitable image files for your own Firefox theme, enter them on the Firefox support page. Simply fill out the form for this purpose. Subsequently, it takes some time until the theme is approved for the gallery. Alternatively, you can use Firefox's Personas Plus extension to apply the theme.
