Windows 10: Taskbar cut off - how to solve it

From time to time, especially after an update, it can happen that the taskbar is cut off in Windows 10. Especially in the right area of the screen you can then see some menu items barely or not at all. Usually, this display error can be fixed by yourself in a few steps.

Taskbar cut off in Windows 10: First help

  1. If the taskbar in Windows 10 appears shifted so that it is partially cut off, click one of the icons in the taskbar. For example, click on the WLAN icon.
  2. If this does not automatically correct the display, there may be incorrect scaling. Right-click on a free space on the desktop and open the "Display settings" in the context menu.
  3. Under "Scaling and arrangement" you will find the option "Change size of text, apps and other elements". Set this scaling to 100 percent or 125 percent. If this value is already in use, click 150 percent for a short time and then click 100 percent again so that the computer rescales this display.
  4. In the display settings, by the way, you can also make other screen adjustments, such as changing the orientation and resolution.

Taskbar still cut off?

If the taskbar is still cut off, right-click on the free area on the taskbar. In the context menu, remove the check mark from "Fix taskbar". Now the taskbar can be customized. If the problem persists, check whether you have downloaded the latest drivers and updates for your graphics card.
