GIMP: Cut out selection - really easy and fast

Cutting out objects from a photo and then pasting or editing them into another image is really fast and effective with the free image editing program GIMP. For this, you just need to know what order to follow to proceed successfully.

How to cut out your selection in GIMP

Use the tools in GIMP correctly and cut out the objects easily:

1. To cut out objects in GIMP, the lasso is a helpful tool, which is why you should activate it beforehand.
2. Now click on the edge of the object to be cut out, working slightly offset. Drive in small points along the edge of the target object.
3. This will form the line on which GIMP will later orient itself and cut out the object. Because of this, work very carefully. It is helpful if you zoom in on the object to really see and cut out all the subtleties correctly.
4. As the final point, select the starting point. Use the key combination of CTRL and X to command GIMP to cut out the desired object. Now you can continue to use the object as you like.

Single color is easier

Although this work is not really complex, you need to invest some time. However, for monochrome objects, you can work much faster by selecting the Magic Wand. With this tool, click on the object you want to cut out. The tool will now select all elements of the object that have the same color. By pressing the key combination CTRL and X, the desired object will be cut out here as well.
