Alexa: Change WLAN - easy and fast

To connect Alexa to a new WLAN, the app or the Alexa website is very useful. However, there are a few aspects to keep in mind when setting up your Amazon Echo for a new one. You can learn how to connect Alexa to a new WLAN here.

How to change the WLAN

Although you can already do many things via voice command, changing the network is only possible via app or website.
  1. Check if the Amazon Echo has a stable power connection and start the app on your smartphone.
  2. Look at the bottom right of the screen and select the gear icon. Click on "Alexa" in the list.
  3. Now several choices appear, from which you select the "Change" option. Click on "Connect to WLAN".
  4. Alexa should now glow orange. If this is not the case, then press and hold the action button with the dot on the Echo for at least 5 seconds.
  5. You now have the option to select a new network via the app and enter the password.
  6. After you have confirmed your entry, Alexa will connect to the new WLAN. You can now use the Amazon Echo device as usual.

Take your time

The speed at which Alexa connects to the new network depends on the speed of the corresponding WLANS. Especially if the connection is used by multiple devices, this may cause the dial-up to take a little more time.
