Office 365: Share Excel workbook
In Microsoft Excel, thanks to the Share feature, you have the possibility to work on a workbook with multiple users at the same time. How you can use the feature depends on the Excel version. Learn how to share your document with other users in the Office 365 version of Excel.
How to share documents in Excel
With the Office 365 package, you have the option to share Excel workbooks with other users and even edit them simultaneously. The prerequisite for this, besides having an Office 365 version of Excel, is that your document has the xlsx, XLSM or XLSB file format. Also, make sure that you unprotect the workbook's write protection, if necessary. Otherwise, other users may not be able to make changes.Follow these steps to share a file:- Open Excel and access the workbook you want to share.
- Click the "Share" option in the top-right corner of the ribbon and select OneDrive.
- After the workbook is uploaded, a new window titled "Share" will open in Excel. There you have the option to invite other users by mail or to generate a link to the workbook.
Unshare - this is how it works
If you want to cancel the sharing for users again, this also works via the Share function.- Open the shared workbook and click on "Share" again in the upper right corner.
- In the "Share" window, right-click a user and then click the "Remove User" option.
