Fast travel has long been standard in large open-world games. Cyberpunk 2077 also relies on the proven system.

Cyberpunk 2077: How fast travel works

Fast travel works in Cyberpunk 2077 as follows:

• Fast travel is always possible from point to point. You can recognize these points on the map by a purple navigation icon.
• In order to travel to a point, it must first be unlocked. This is done simply by being near the point once. A special action to unlock there is not.
• The fast travel points are small terminals that you must approach. There then appears a map on which you can select the destination point.

Logically, the more points you unlock, the faster you travel through the area of Night City. Most unlocks happen automatically along the way, for example, when you drive your car to a mission.
