Scrum Method - what is it?

The English term Scrum actually comes from the sport of rugby and means "orderly scrum". Today, Scrum is considered an important concept in agile project management. What it is all about, you can find out here.

The Scrum Method: A Brief Introduction

In 1995, the Scrum Method was first introduced at a conference. Basically, the Scrum method provides a framework in which companies significantly increase their efficiency through the clear definition of work roles, flexibility and so-called sprints. The goal is to divide a project into small stages that are worked through with flexibility and innovative solution approaches. A central role is played by a "Scrum Master", who acts as a moderator and keeps a team on track by ensuring that set goals are met.

Important concepts of the Scrum method

For the effective application of the Scrum method, several principles should be considered:
  • Transparency: Decisions and goals should be accessible to all participants of a project.
  • Focus: concentration on tasks to be completed through a consistent way of working.
  • Independence: A Scrum team should always work self-determined and with initiative.
  • Werte: Grundlage für die Messung der Teamleistung sind immer die erzielten Mehrwerte für Kunden.
  • Prozesse: Die Scrum Methode ist nicht verhandelbar und sorgt so für klare Vorgaben und Stabilität im Team.
