WhatsApp: Send location - this is how easy it is

With WhatsApp you can share information of all kinds as easily as possible. In addition to chats and media, this includes location. Read how you can send your location to selected contacts.

Cumbersome directions are a thing of the past in the smartphone age. Already in this guide, we have explained the ways in which you can share your location with Google Maps. It is almost even easier if you use the function directly in WhatsApp.

WhatsApp: Send location - only a few steps necessary

If you have an Android device, proceed as follows:

1. Open the chat contact in WhatsApp to which you want to send your location.
2. Tap on the paper clip at the top above the chat window, with which you can select attachments.
3. Tap on "Location".
4. You will now see on a map, which location the location service of your smartphone determines. Alternatively, you can also select nearby locations from the list.
5. To send the automatically determined location, which is ideally the most accurate, first tap on "Send current location" and then go to the "arrow icon".

Your contact will then receive the location in a message and can view it in a map service such as Google Maps - and if necessary, start navigation there directly.

Send location on iPhone

If you own an iPhone, the procedure for sending your location differs slightly. Again, first open the WhatsApp contact that you want to receive your location. Then tap the "Plus icon" and decide between the two options "Send current location" or "Share live location".
