Excel: How to use the text function
A spreadsheet program can help you manage data. Excel also provides you with various functions that allow you to view and edit your data sets as you wish. The text function is used to convert numbers into text. This way you can combine them with symbols more easily.
What the Text function in Excel brings you
The Text function in Excel is a way to change the display of numbers using format codes. This is needed, for example, to display numbers more legibly or to combine them with other characters.- In the ideal case, you use an empty cell to enter the modified value there. To do this, write the command "=Text()".
- Then you must pass two arguments in the parentheses of the function. The first argument contains the cell number, which contains the value you want to format.
- In the second argument, you must pass the format code that describes the formatting for the numbers.
- For example, "#.##0,00" is used as the format code. Here, a number is displayed with thousands separator and two decimal places.
- Another format code is used, for example, with a date. Here you can specify that the day, month and year should be displayed by specifying "DD.MM.JJ" as the format code. Note that the format code must be written in quotes.
