Install WordPress - create a website

If you want to create your own websites, a content management system can make your work easier. Often used here is the free WordPress, which is already used in up to 30 percent of all websites. Before you can use the software, you need to install the program.

How to install WordPress

To create a website yourself, so-called content management systems are used. With these, the website can also be maintained later. WordPress is a widely used CMS. Would you like to use the program, you must first install it.

1. First download WordPress to your computer.
2. Next you need to start your FTP client.
3. After that, connect to your web hosting. For this, use your FTP credentials.
4. After that, select the files of WordPress that are located in the appropriate folder. These are copied to the main directory "/htdocs".
5. Now go to your browser and enter your domain name in the address bar.
6. Has everything worked, you will now be shown a page where you click on the button "Create configuration file".
7. Next go to "...now you can start!".
8. Now you get to a page where you have to specify your database connection. Dabei sind vor allem die Informationen zum Namen der Datenbank und des Datenbanknutzers und das Passwort wichtig.
9. Klicken Sie auf „…starte die Installation!“.
