With the increasing development of devices that you can network and control via the Internet, the term "Internet of Things" is also appearing more and more frequently. A precise definition for the term cannot usually be found, but it is usually used in connection with smart devices.

1. IoT is used as a description for the networking of all devices in everyday life and in industry. These devices are connected to each other via the Internet.
2. In the IoT, the devices can communicate with each other via the Internet, whereby many processes also run automatically.
3. This area also includes devices in the smart home or smart city environment.
4. For this reason, a distinction is often made between private and industrial applications.
5. In the private environment, it is usually about networking the devices in everyday life, so that they adapt to your habits. This is used, for example, lighting systems, alarm systems or even heating systems.
6. In the industrial sense, it is mainly about the automation of processes. For example, transport routes or procedures in the automotive industry can be simplified.
