iPhone: Share WLAN - how to get the password
If you have connected to a WLAN network and have friends over, you don't have to share the password character by character. Since iOS 11, there is a function that allows you to exchange the password between iPhones contactless. The advantage of this is that you can keep the Wi-Fi password secret.
How to share the Wi-Fi password between iPhones
When you have friends over, they usually want to connect to your Wi-Fi. If you do not want to give out the password directly or it is too long, then Apple offers you an alternative option since iOS 11. So you can easily share your password via Bluetooth.- On both iPhones, you need to enable both the WLAN and Bluetooth via the settings. Make sure that all personal hotspots are disabled on both devices.
- In addition, your Apple ID must be added in the Contacts app of the other person. This already applies if you have exchanged messages via iMessage, for example.
- Both devices must then be in the WLAN and Bluetooth range. Keep them close to each other.
- Your device that wants to share the password must be unlocked and connected to the Wi-Fi network.
- The second device must now select the Wi-Fi network it wants to connect to.
- Now the already connected device will display "Share Password". Select the option and tap "Done".
