Connecting cell phones to PS3: How it works

Connect your phone to your PS3, you can do des via USB cable or Bluetooth. Then you can access your pictures, videos and music, for example. This works with both Android and iOS.

When you connect your phone to the PS3, you can access your pictures, videos and music. There are two ways to establish the connection between the two devices.

Connecting your cell phone to the PS3 via USB cable

If you are using a USB cable for your Android smartphone or a Lightning cable for your iPhone, proceed as follows:
  1. Connect the cell phone to the PS3 via USB cable.
  2. If your phone is recognized, you can already access "Pictures", "Video" or "Music".
  3. Should you not find your data at this point, drag the notification bar of the phone down and open the USB options.
  4. Select the item "Mass Storage" in the following menu. The name of this menu item may vary depending on your phone and is sometimes called "Media Device (MTP)".

Connecting your phone to the PS3 via Bluetooth

If you want to access your Android smartphone via Bluetooth, follow these steps:
  1. Enable Bluetooth on your phone.
  2. Select "Peripheral Device Settings" in the PS3's settings.
  3. Click "Manage Bluetooth Devices > Register New Device > Yes".
  4. Click "Start Scanning". Select your device from the list. You may need to enter the KeyPass, which will be displayed on your screen.
On iPhone, you will need an app for Bluetooth connection. Download "MyPSN" from the App Store and use it to connect to the PS3.
