SSD: Extend life - with these tips it works

SSDs are now found in every modern computer. Data can be read and written faster via an SSD than with an old HDD. Especially at the beginning of the SSD era, it was believed that these hard drives would quickly wear out and break. In the meantime, however, this has been disproved.

SSD: Extend lifetime - not absolutely necessary

Every SSD has a so-called TBW value, which you can read out either by a tool or when setting up the hard drive with the included software. This value indicates how long the SSD can still be operated.

1. Generally, the hard disks are quite robust and are primarily only worn out if you really put your mind to it.
2. The TBW value will in almost every case always be much higher than you intend to use the hard disk.

SSD Lebensdauer verlängern: Das sollten Sie vermeiden

1. Um die Lebensdauer dennoch garantiert lange zu halten, sollten Sie auf die Defragmentierung der Platte verzichten. Dieser Vorgang schadet dem Medium nur.
2. Deaktivieren Sie außerdem die „Windows Search“, da dieser Vorgang bei SSDs nicht schneller ist.
3. Aktivieren Sie zudem den „Windows-Trim-Befehl“ mithilfe des Befehls „fsutil behavior query DisableDeleteNotify“ im Terminal.
