PlayStation 4 Reset - How to reset your console
Before selling your PlayStation 4, be sure to reset it to factory settings. A PlayStation 4 reset can also help with major software issues. Finally, you also have the option to reset the graphics settings.
Reset PlayStation 4 to factory settings
You can completely reset the PlayStation 4 by doing the following:- Open the settings from the home screen.
- Here you open the "Initialization" menu.
- Press "Restore Defaults", only language, network and other settings will be deleted. The reset of the settings can sometimes already help if the PS4 has minor errors.
- On the other hand, if you select "Initialize PS4", you have another choice between "Fast" and "Full". Full means that all data is irrevocably deleted. The PS4 is then reset to the factory state. "Fast" also deletes all data, but you can theoretically be restored.
- The reset process takes a few minutes, in which the PS4 may in no case be pulled from the power or turned off.
PlayStation 4 reset of video settings and resolution
You should perform this reset if you observe image interference with your PS4. Here, only the settings are reset, but not personal data, game saves or installation files.- From the PS4 home page, navigate to the "Settings".
- Here you open the "Sound and Screen" menu.
- Under the "Video Output Settings" you will now find all video settings.
- Set everything here to "Automatic".
- Now the video settings are reset to the factory default. If problems still occur, continue with a complete reset.
