PlayStation 5: Prices now official - that's what the console costs

Shortly after the final announcement on the Xbox Series X, Sony followed suit and published all the relevant information on the release of the PlayStation 5. Here, the price plays a particularly important role.

No surprises: The price of the PlayStation 5 has been predicted for some time.

The PlayStation 4 clearly dominated the global console market. Consequently, the expectations for its successor could hardly be greater.

PlayStation 5: Price as expected

The official release date for the PlayStation 5 depends on the region: In Europe (and thus also Germany), the release will take place on November 19, 2020, but in Japan, the United States, South Korea, Canada, Mexico, Australia and New Zealand, it will be a week earlier, on November 12. About the price:
  • In the digital edition without optical Blu-ray drive, the console costs 399.99 euros.
  • With drive, the price is 499.99 euros.
  • For comparison, the prices in other currencies: Between euro and US dollar, Sony simply converts 1:1. In the UK, £359.99 and £449.99, respectively, are called for.
