Amazon Prime for family members: how to do it

Amazon Prime is popular with the whole household. So that not every housemate needs a Prime subscription themselves, you can share your subscription with other people. Since 2017, however, this is only possible with another person. If you have subscribed before, you can still share Prime with four others.

With Amazon Prime, you can have up to four people share your subscription.

How to activate Amazon Prime for family members

If you want to share your Amazon Prime subscription with other people in your household, there is no additional cost for them. However, there are restrictions, because some services can still only use the main subscriber. For example, it is only possible to pass on the shipping benefits when shopping as well as lightning deals to the person. Prime Video, the Kindle lending library, Prime Now and Amazon Drive, on the other hand, remain exclusive. However, you can take out a separate family subscription for these services. If you have taken out your subscription after 2017, you can share it with another person living in the household.

1. Log in to Amazon and click on "My Account."
2. Click on the "My Prime Membership" button.
3. There you will see all your Prime benefits. Under this listing, click on "Share Prime benefits". Here you can see how many people you can invite under "Invite people from your household". Have you subscribed before 2017 you can still share your subscription with 4 other family members.
4. Enter the name and email address of the person you want to invite.
5. Click on "Send invitation".
6. The invited person will now receive an email, which he must click. Then the person will be guided through the registration.
