Green Hell: Tips and tricks to get started - for beginners

Whether in story mode or survival sandbox, Green Hell is about survival from the very first second. To that end, our guide summarizes some handy tips and tricks for getting started.

Green Hell is based on reality, and that makes for a real challenge.

Green Hell already gained notoriety in Early Access. The release success in September 2019 therefore did not come as a complete surprise.

Green Hell: These tips ensure a good start

You start the game practically empty-handed. Nevertheless, your life bars sink incessantly downwards. So it's first about the absolute survival basics:

• In the very first step, you'll need tools. Start with an axe, as you can use it to cut wood. You can also make spear and stone blade directly.
• Then it's about resources. Among other things, you need drinking water. Look for coconuts, empty and halve them and put the shells to collect drinkable rainwater.
• At the same time, look for bananas and other fruits, as you can consume them without cooking.
• In the next step, build a shelter, as you can store there and sleep safely.
• After that, build a room with a roof. This is important because you also need a campfire to cook hunted meat. An unroofed campfire will be extinguished by the rain.
• Then it goes to the hunt, because you need proteins. You can kill fish just like other animals with a spear. Collect some pieces of meat before you light the campfire and cook the meat.

The roughest need is eliminated with food, drink, weapons and a shelter and you have a good foundation for the game. It is advisable to build new blueprints in the diary as soon as possible, as this will unlock new buildings. After all, it's clear that the more options you have, the better you'll do.Also important from the start: look out for the magnifying glass icon at the bottom left. This points you to problems such as leeches or unattended wounds.
